The Blue Velvet Top (Waistcoat/Drape Top)

This unconventional top is designed with a fluid, asymmetrical drape. The garment wraps and folds across the body, creating an intentional, artful imbalance. When worn, it exposes the upper back and shoulders, lending a sensual contrast to the luxurious depth of the velvet. It features a bold, exaggerated fold that frames the wearer, making it a true statement piece. Adorned with a vintage silver elephant brooch.

The cuffs are designed to be adjustable—noticeably tied at the ankle, allowing the wearer to customise the shape from a relaxed jogger to a more tapered silhouette, perfectly showcasing footwear.

Care Instructions: Due to the luxurious pile and sensitive nature of cotton velvet and the one-of-a-kind construction, specialised care is essential. Cleaning: Professional dry cleaning is strongly recommended. Water can flatten or mark the velvet pile, making it difficult to restore. Storage: Hang the top on a padded hanger to avoid creases and protect the pile. Fold the trousers gently to prevent pressure marks on the velvet. Handling: Avoid brushing the velvet against rough surfaces. If dust or lint accumulates, use a soft, lint-free garment brush, gently brushing in the direction of the nap. Ironing/Steaming: Do not iron. If the garments require smoothing, use a garment steamer on the reverse side of the fabric (if lined) or very lightly steam the velvet from a distance, ensuring not to wet the fabric.

Do you clean items?

All pieces are appropriately cleaned prior to listing. Light age-related marks may remain to preserve fabric integrity. Further professional cleaning may be possible at your discretion.

Do you repair?

We complete minor in-house repairs and, where needed, use trusted alteration specialists. We avoid unnecessary alterations to maintain originality and authenticity.

What about the nature of the products?

Pieces are either new, made from scratch from responsibly sourced materials, or fully reworked and professionally finished while maintaining the authenticity of the original piece. Please check the product description for more details on each piece.

All vintage and second-hand items/ repurposed materials may show minor signs of wear. Any notable defects affecting wear are photographed and noted.

Size Guide

All KUDERA pieces are vintage and sized by how they fit like today, rather than by the original garment label. Each item is personally tried on by the KUDERA founder to determine the most accurate modern fit.

Our sizing follows a simple, modern guide (XS, S, M, L etc ) to help you understand how each vintage piece would compare to contemporary clothing.

We always recommend checking the listed measurements and comparing them with a similar piece you already own before purchasing. If you’re unsure, please reach out - we’re happy to help with sizing advice.

UK delivery:

Flat delivery rate is calculated automatically at checkout based on the weight and value of the purchased item to ensure it is delivered safely.

Click & collect is always available at our Studio store in Liverpool, Hope Street. Please contact us on email alena@kudera.art to arrange a suitable pick-up date.
